MSV Track Day Trophy

May 24, 2012

Jason & Tony completed their first race in the www.prestigemk.com sponsored Toyota MR2 at the weekend. The MSV Trackday Trophy race is a 45 minute endurance two driver race held at Silverstone on the National Circuit. Tony & Jason qualified second in class (for cars with under 125BHP per tonne). Tony took the first stint and made a good start gaining a number of places and at the end of the first lap was leading the class. He managed avoid a number of first lap accidents which saw a few cars in the gravel and with body damage. During his 22 minute stint he pulled out a 7 second lead from the second placed car before pulling into the pits for the driver change.

Driver changes must take a minimum of 1 minute 50 seconds. teams must time their own stop but the officials also time them. If you “short stop” you get a drive through penalty. Timing starts as the car enters the pit lane and stops as it exits. We had practiced our stops and thought we had it cracked. We timed our stop at 1 minute 54 seconds, perfect. The official timing for the stop was 1 minute 51 seconds. A close thing!

Jason went out for his stint and drove well in his first ever race, unfortunately a spin at Brooklands (which he almost caught!) while overtaking a slower car saw him loose first place. He continued on and finished in 2nd place. Unfortunately Tony had incurred a 5 second penalty during his stint for exceeding the track limits. Crossing the white line on the exit of Copse. This pushed them down to third….

Not a bad result for their first race. But they are hoping for a better result in the next race.

Ferrari 360 Challenge car – Silverstone

A Wet but Fun day at Silverstone with Graham Reeder, Jon and Simon from Springy Web

Graham took Jon and Simon out for a few laps in the car which I think it is safe to say they enjoyed by the big grins afterwards. The car was running on quite old wet tyres in some bad conditions but Graham still managed some very quick laps. The car is in race action this weekend at Silverstone in the Pirelli ferrari Open championship where it will be driven by Tim Ingram-Hill.

GT Cup – Silverstone April 16th 2011

GT Cup: Silverstone – April 16th & 17th

FF Corse finished on the podium in both races of the GT cup at the weekend with Gary Eastwood finishing an excellent 2nd in race one and Leon Price taking a strong 3rd position in race two.

The unluckiest driver was Toby Tarrant-Willis, who was making his Ferrari race debut with FF Corse. Despite an excellent qualifying position and running as high as 2nd place in race two, Toby failed to finish either race due to an unavoidable collision in race one and suffered a puncture whilst looking good for a strong podium in race two.

Rupert Martin in the newly resplendent Yellow Dextra colours ran well all weekend and with improving lap times looked good for a strong result in race two before being spun round by a competitor, dropping him down the order.

The next race GT Cup race is at Oulton Park on May 14th.

Need to start writing something…..

April 26, 2010

So going to write about cars to begin with – Did something rare at the weekend and washed my car, then within half an hour it rained with what seemed like half a ton of volcanic ash in it…. serves me right fo breaking the habit of a lifetime and washing a car!

Have managed to own a car and never washed it, that happens when they service it…
